Aarav Shah is three off the lead in the men's competition after Day 3 of the Orion 36th Bangladesh Amateur Championship in Dhaka.

Aarav Shah put up an improved show to give himself a shot at the men’s individual title on Day 3 of the Orion 36th Bangladesh Amateur Championship.

Aarav, who trains in India, but is an Australian citizen, shot a 2-under 70 to move up the leaderboard to sole second at 214 (70, 74, 70) and three shots off the leader Subash Tamang of Nepal 211 (72, 66, 73). Bangladesh’s Abu Bakar Siddik lies third at 216.

On the opening day of the ladies’ event, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal made it 1-2-3. Sonya Akhtar shot a 79 at the par-72 Kurmitola Golf Club, while Suneyah Osama shot a similar card. Susma Sigdel shot 11-over to be third.

In the team event, Nasima (86) and Sonya Akhtar combined to put Bangladesh on top in the ladies’ team event with a score of 165. Pakistan are in joint lead with Suneyah and Abiha Hamin Syed (86) making up the team. Nepal are third at 179 with Susma and Tara Karki (96) doing their bit.
