Khalin Joshi goes into the final day of the Gurugram Challenge five shots off the lead.

Khalin Joshi can’t remember the last time he shot over-par on all days of a tournament in top-flight golf. The DGC Open last week was an instance in a long while.

The grind at the Delhi Golf Club is fresh, but the biggest positive amid poor golf was making cut. “As long as I make cut, my confidence is up. It doesn’t matter where I finish,” said Khalin. This is the confidence of a man sure of making a comeback.

From there to now at the Gurugram Challenge. Khalin goes into the final day five shots off the leader Rory Hie. If one were to talk about making cut, Khalin would point to the sail at the Classic Golf and Country Club. In 54 holes, just one blemish on Day 1 and no compounding errors.

“My game is getting better and I need to repeat my golf swing,” is the observation. Extricating himself from the mess of last week, and placing himself on the fringes of his second international win after 2018, Khalin’s confidence is sky high.

“Classic or any other course, a five-shot lead is gettable. All I need is to shoot a low number on Friday,” said Khalin.
