Stage set for 36th Bangladesh Amateur Championship

The Bangladesh Amateur Championship was first held in 1982 at the Kurmitola Golf Club.

The 36th Orion Bangladesh Amateur Championship will be held at the Kurmitola Golf Club under the aegis of the Bangladesh Golf Federation.

Besides the country’s top amateur golfers, top players from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Korea, Australia, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Malaysia and Indonesia will tee off in the four-day event, which gets underway from Wednesday. The field has 128 golfers, including 31 foreign participants. The break of the field is as follows, 115 men, 13 women and 42 senior golfers.

Bangladesh’s premier WAGR ranked event was first held in 1982, and is being sponsored by the Orion Group for the fifth time.

The prize presentation will be held on March 11 in the presence of Air Chief Marshal Shaikh Abdul Hannan, chief of the Bangladesh Air Force.
