Karan Mehto won the playoff to prevail in the Amateur category of the City Qualifier 3, Shubhankar Sharma All India Junior Invitational, at Jaypee Wish Town, Noida.
On a rainy Friday, Karan and Arin Ahuja shot the only two sub-par cards in this category to be tied at 2-under 65. Prevailing in a playoff is about keeping nerve and Karan came out better equipped. Aditya Punia, Akshath Sharma and Manoviraj were third at 67.

With a score of 71, Ahana Kashyap was the qualifier among Girls A/B/C. She was followed by Aditi Bhardwaj (73) and Anahita Singh (81).
Anshul Kabthiyal was the lone name to shoot under-par and the 66 gave him the top spot in ‘A’ Boys. He was followed by Daanish Chauhan (68) and Aryaman Rautela (69).
Anshul Bhati figured among those who shot under-par on the day, and the 65 was enough to give him the top spot and qualifier spot in ‘B’ Boys. Shubham Kumar (70) and Ishaan Sawhney (71) were next.
There was little to separate Prince Bainsla and Jivraj Khurana, but the former prevailed by a shot at 71 to qualify from ‘B’ Boys. Smyaan Gupta was third with a 74.
Vidit Aggarwal showed sound understanding of the conditions and shot a 1-under 66 to grab the top spot in ‘D’ Boys and of course the qualifier spot. He was followed by Raajveer Singh Suri (76) and Siddant Sharma (81).
Samar Baijal was the qualifier from ‘E’ boys with a card if 1-under 32. Avviraj Kailia, Kabir Sachdev and Kabir Goyal came next tied at 33.
