The Baisoya brothers, @ajay_baisoya and @pawanbaisoya3023 are living on hope and with a prayer on the lips. The level of craft has never been top notch but what they possess is oodles of passion to carry on with their first love, come what may. The pandemic has only stacked the odds higher. For Ajay, his two-year-old venture of dealing in used golf equipment went quiet after lockdown and Pawan probably chose the wrong time to make changes to his swing. A string of missed cuts leading to 2020 severely hit the family’s resource pool, which is supplemented by their father’s income from carrying bags at the Delhi Golf Club.
The savings were low anyway, and five months into this unprecedent situation, how the family has survived isn’t tough to guess. Asked about how they coped, the reply is, “Do waqt ki roti mil gayi, yehi bahut hai. (We were lucky to have two meals a day)”
