The IPL Auction 2022 for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will be, once again, about seeking that elusive crown.

Their pre-auction headlines were mostly about Virat Kohli, who announced that he would not lead the T20 contingents, be it for India or in franchise cricket. The news, and the ensuing conspiracy theories notwithstanding, RCB had no doubt that Virat Kohli would be in their retention list.

The superstar will now be playing for the franchise as a senior and one assumes that his shedding of captaincy had a lot to do with the dual pressure to leading India and RCB to successes and letting go of the captaincy mantle may leave him in a better place to justify the faith imposed on him by RCB.

Following are the IPL Auction 2022 retentions for RCB:

Virat Kohli (Rs. 15 crore)

Glenn Maxwell (Rs. 11 crore)

Mohd. Siraj (Rs. 7 crore)

Total spend: Rs 33 crore

Balance Purse: Rs 57 crore

Maxwell is another player RCB have re-imposed faith in and the Australian will need to vindicate this trust, since his 2021 season was not too flattering. RCB can now bid for 22 players, including seven overseas candidates.
