Tokyo Olympic Games bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain has no qualms in accepting that she would turn a pro boxer one day. But there is a big goal to achieve before that.

The 24-year-old from Golaghat in Assam is not content with her Tokyo 2020 bronze medal. She rather remained more disappointed about missing the gold.

She has set her eyes on an Olympic gold and is not ready to settle for anything less. She would not stop before reaching the top pedestal on an Olympic podium.

“I had nothing but gold in my mind in Tokyo,” Lovlina Borgohain told Olympics.com, and also elaborated what went wrong in her semi-finals bout.

“I think I lost that bout because of my lack of training. Due to Covid and my personal injuries I could not train to the maximum. You always prepare differently for the Olympics but I think I could not do that. If I had been in continuous training I would have defeated her,” she reminisced.

“I am using the time to work on my strength. Previously, I had stated that I need to improve my strength. So for the past four months, I have been doing strength training. Now I feel much better. So I have taken the break very positively,” she explained.

A fan of legendary Floyd Mayweather Jr, Lovlina too see professional boxing as her ultimate destination. But her route to the pro world goes via the gold at the Paris 2024.

“I like professional boxing a lot. I had thought that if I win gold in Tokyo I will shift to professional boxing. But I stopped at bronze. So in Paris, the target is gold. After that, I can join professional boxing,” she revealed.

Before the 2024 Paris, Lovlina has the task of a golden sign off from the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games and 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games.
