The ICC World Championship Final has invoked good commercial value. The host broadcaster Star Sports has roped in 12 sponsors. India’s presence in the final off course adds premium to the property.

Business of cricket involving Virat Kohli & Co remains the adverse economic impact of slowdowns, lockdowns and pandemics. At a time when shortened commercial versions of cricket are reeling under the pressure of the Covid-19 pandemic, the World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand has many buyers.

Star Sports has roped in 12 brands as broadcast sponsors for the inaugural ICC World Test Championship final. Indian and New Zealand will meet at the Rose Bowl, Southampton, from June 18 to 22 to decide the first ICC World Test champion. There is a provision for a reserve day to make up for any time loss during the regulation period of play.

The Reserve Day, however, will not come into play if the match ends in a draw after full five days of play. The teams will be declared joint champions in the event of a draw or tie.

Two biggest spenders on cricket broadcast in India – Dream 11 and Byju’s – along with Car 24 and Thumbs Up have signed as the co-presenting partners for the one-off Test. UltraTech Cement, PharmaEasy, policybazaar.com and sister concern paisabazaar.com, MRF, Skoda, Cred and Niyox will be the association sponsors, a senior Star Sports source has confirmed to the Sportinghub.

ICC’s exclusive media rights partner has an unprecedented broadcast plan for the one-off Test. The Test is being given treatment on a par with any high profile limited-over series or the Indian Premier League.

The WTC Final will be broadcast across different Star Sports network channels in five languages, with the live streaming of the entire feed on Disney+ Hotstar.
